Fashion, Women and Social Issues at Model for Hope 2011

Our PopConversation writer, Herman, leads a comfortable life in Singapore. He goes to school for a proper education, attends many media events for free food and meets many brilliant individuals who embrace worthy causes much bigger than themselves.

In Model for Hope 2011, we sent our writer down to the event to do what he does best- put in a lot of effort. Herman talks to fashion designers, a hip hop band and 2 handsome guys about fashion taboos, women and pressing social issues. Herman also tries to hit on the lead vocalist of Sixx.

What is Model for Hope 2011?
Model For Hope 2011 is a student-led charity event for a student audience, aimed at raising awareness of the plight of victims of human trafficking and sexual slavery. Organised by youths from ACJC, ACS(I) and NUS, the event aims to juxtapose — through the medium of fashion — the comfortable lifestyles of Singaporean youth, with the deprivation, degradation and suffering of modern-day victims of sexual slavery.

Fashion, Mentorship and Looking Good with David Wang

To be in the frontlines of media, you've got to look the part. People in media constantly find themselves within the reticles of many dslr cameras so its paramount that you come to an event prepared to give the photographer guy's index finger a workout.

Most of the staffers in the PopConversation team are chic, stylish and aesthetically pleasing; our writer, Herman, on the other hand, has a very nice personality.

This week, Herman meets David Wang for a casual interview about design, fashion and dressing to impress. They also talk about that 2 storey tall Abercrombie and Fitch clean-shaven male model poster just outside of Knightsbridge and how it objectifies men.

Interview with Arthur Acuna and Maritina Romulo

Herman is a writer at Popconversation and he is a lucky individual. He meets the most wonderful people doing the most interesting things, revels in their company, and talks about the things they love to do and shares these stories with everyone around the world. It's great that our writer, Herman, enjoys what he is doing because we do not pay him a salary.

This week, Herman meets Arthur Acuna and his beautiful wife Maritina Romulo for a candid interview about love, acting and the show business. We also talk a little bit about Justin Bieber.
