After a long day at work or in school (neither of which is very fun, unless of course your work involves not working and your school not studying), nothing beats switching off your brain to funny cat videos or Sam Tsui serenading (oooh Sammy, how we long to fall asleep in your arms <3).
PopConversation has assembled a list of 5 of the most entertaining videos this week, all of the videos are from Singapore and they are engaging proof that the locals of this tiny tropical island are as capable of sapping up your free time online as anyone else in the world through raw talent, catchy beats and inspired content.
1) Dharni and Koflow - Rolling In The Swing
The 2 heavyweights of the local (and international) music scene, beatboxer Dharni and DJ Koflow, come together for a fun re-imagination of Adele's worldwide hit song, "Rolling in the Deep". Their remix, titled "Rolling in the Swing", has gotten nearly 12 thousand views since its release 6 days ago and feedback for the video has been positive- with over 450 likes.
A few Youtubers didn't feel the same and they thumbs downed the video, which prompted the world ranked beatboxer to leave the following comment on his video, "In the end of the day, it's all about the damn music. #$@! the haters." We agree with Dharni ;)
2) Ham Eunjung - Ballpoint pen drawing
This showcase of artistic finesse was uploaded by Youtuber and K-Pop fan, WilNArt. The quality of the video production, like his artwork, is very well done- it begins with several interesting camera angles that serves to introduce his viewers to korean music and eventually the main segment- a time lapse video of a portrait of singer actress Ham Eunjung coming to life.
WilNArt describes himself as a guy whose favorite hobby is drawing and that he's been doing portraitures for 4 years. From the looks of his final sketch, those were definitely years well spent.
3) I AM LETICIACIA FIERCE!
Youtube duo, Munah Bagharib and Hirzi Zulkiflie, are PopConversation's top 5 Youtube personalities in Singapore. They are hugely entertaining and the dynamic pair takes on many diverse roles in their skits.
Leticia Bongnino is a Filipino character of Hirzi; she's a sassy and confident domestic worker with dreams of making it big in showbiz. Hirzi showcases his natural aptitude for comedy and versatility in accents in "I AM LETICIACIA FIERCE!".
At close to 12 thousand views, this brief video is making its way up the Youtube charts; we reckon a longer sketch will secure Leticia's place in the top 10 most viewed of the month.
4) Someone Like You - Sungha Jung (Guitar) ft. Jitrui (Drums)
What do you get when you combine Adele's chart topper, Korea's youngest guitar celebrity and a dexterous Singaporean drummer? Well, you get an inspired musical collaboration that's what. Youtuber Jitrui plays the drums to the tune of Sungha Jung's guitar solo and 4 minutes 36 seconds into the video, you realise that the video wasn't long enough. Well, there's always the replay button ;)
5) Baby Stitch Tutorial, Polymer Clay Marathon!
Youtuber SabyLoves has a total of 66 videos in her channel and they're 66 of the most endearing DIY videos in which she teach her viewers how to mould and create Disney characters, food, and a collection of many other keychain sized clay sculptures.
There are many similar instructional videos and they're especially popular in Japan, but SabyLoves is one of the first Singaporean to have a channel dedicated to this craft, bravo first mover! At over one third of a million upload views, the enterprising Singaporean might be our Michelle Phan of dough (ok we know it's not technically dough, but it's catchy, so there...)
