Just one of the many provokative feature stories on Vice.com
In my opinion, the stand out content in Vice.com is their exploration of the darker side of humanity, the website serves these stories up in the form of thought provoking articles and videos, and it is in them that you get revealing and morbid glimpses of humanity at its lowest points. A really good example would be Vice's coverage on the Colombian street kids living in sewers to escape death squads (who regularly exterminate homeless vagrants by shooting them or setting them on fire).
The publication also dabbles in internet pop culture, with similar vice themed undertones. Their recent expose on the life of one of Youtube's most hated personality, TheReplyGirl (a female youtuber who makes video commentaries on popular clips on Youtube while wearing revealing clothing to attract a lot of views and make money) makes for really interesting content. Their videos are also well paced and edited.
Outside of the heavier material that Vice may be known for is a collection of surprisingly light hearted content. One such example would be their popular clip on the baby sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica (beware: excessive levels of cute) -
While the magazine has roots in North America and some of their content are more relevant to Americans, Vice regularly publishes stories from countries outside of that continent - for example, North Korea, Russia, Japan, Congo, etc - the results are rich content and global appeal.
Be sure to check out Vice.com and their intriguing catalogue of videos.
